Each year, during its biggest annual event, TAUS invites those with passion for innovation to take part in the TAUS Game Changer Innovation Contest to take the stage and wow the audience with their ideas or products. This acclaimed contest celebrates the best innovative solutions in the translation industry and is known for bringing strong publicity to its winners.

wordly's Founder & CEO, Lakshman Rathnam, won with his live demonstration and presentation entitled Enhance Mutual Understanding using wordly Language on Demand. He says: "I am delighted that wordly was selected as the winner of the TAUS Game Changers Innovation Award for our real-time interpretation solution. It is an honor to be recognized by the language industry leaders that make up the TAUS community. wordly is revolutionizing the interpretation industry by delivering simultaneous translation across many languages, powered entirely by AI. This award acknowledges the importance of providing easy to use solutions to solve significant problems in interpretation."

Among the contestants this year were well-known players of the language industry such as Systran, Mozilla, Pactera and Amazon, as well as previous winners like Unbabel and Iconic Translation Machines, and total newcomers like InWhatLanguage, Intento, lexiQA and wordly. “The previous winners of the TAUS Game Changer Innovation Contest have been able to raise investments in their innovative projects from venture capitalists as a result of the exposure they get from the reputable TAUS audience. TAUS Game Changer Innovators raise the bar for others to follow” says Anne-Maj van der Meer, TAUS Events Director.

“Not only do the participants need to have an outstanding new idea to win, but they need to be able to articulate their ideas succinctly and full of impact to win.” says Erik Vogt, VP Partnerships and Custom Solutions at RWS Moravia and host for this year’s event. “For the past 7 years, the TAUS innovation competition has been one of the industry’s best opportunities to see the latest in the technology that will make a change in industry, both from startups and established leaders in the industry. In the past few years we’ve seen rapid increases in the utility of voice technologies like this one.”

The TAUS Team congratulates wordly and is looking forward to seeing how their technology will develop in the future. We also like to thank all the participants this year for their courage to present their innovations in the contest.
